There are plenty of supercar and classic car shows up and down the UK to keep petrolheads (and their families) fed with a regular dose of adrenalin and high-octane thrills, but it’s always nice to report on a new one, especially a new one that offers the promise of something worth making the effort for. The Warren Golf & Country Club, which nestles on the Warren Estate in Woodham Mortimer – far from the white stilettos and tangoed complexions of the more chavvy parts of Essex – has its first ever classic and supercar show event this Saturday (4th May 2013) and they’ve made a pretty good fist of putting an appealing array of goodies together. Max Chilton, a relatively new entrant in the F1 world, will be there together with his Marussia F1 car, as will be the entire Le Mans Jaguar XJR Team thanks to local specialists JD Classics.

The Skoda Yeti Xtreme has been revealed by Skoda as their second concept car heading for the Worthersee Show, but instead of a cute, open-top city car like the Skoda CitiJet we get a rufty-tufty Yeti with aspirations to go rallying. Cosmetically, the Yeti Xtreme gets a matt grey paint job, 17! alloys with off-roading tyres, tinted windows, a new front bumper with bigger air intakes, a bigger back bumper with dual exhausts and a set of LED lights.

No one buys a Toyota Auris and expects to go blatting round the back roads, eking every last drop of grip and handling out of the chassis. They buy it because it does everything without fuss, competently, quietly – and forever. And if – as many believe – CO2 is the enemy of the planet, then all that sensibleness oozing from every pore of the Auris Hybrid will be wonderfully appealing, especially as there is very little compromise needed to accommodate all that Hybrid Green-ness.
